Chris Richards
Founder of LandlordQuote and SimplyQuote. Reads every guide here against the law it describes before it goes out.
Chris Richards has worked since 2012 on a single problem: people overpay for things that are hard to compare. Landlord insurance is a good example of one, because two insurers can look at the same building and the same facts and come back with very different numbers.
He started in IT, then moved into personal finance and what households were actually paying for the basics. That became a platform for cutting energy bills, first for homes and then for businesses, and the work carried on from there into insurance: car, home, business and taxi cover.
On this site his job is to be the person who checks. Every guide in the knowledge hub is read against the legislation and the government guidance it cites rather than anybody else’s summary of them, then read again when the law underneath it moves. It has moved a long way since 1 May 2026, and parts of the Renters’ Rights Act are still being brought in.
Away from here he is founder and managing director of SimplyQuote and the founder of UK Motoring, and is quoted in the national press on insurance and motoring. LandlordQuote is a trading style of Simply Quote Comparison Ltd.
The guidance here sits alongside the site’s landlord insurance comparison, which is how it is paid for.
